Mold Remediation

I have Black Mold, what do I do?

The only solution for toxic black mold is to remove is from your environment. At Charleston Environmental Services we use the Carbonic Cleaning method with our highly trained technicians and dry ice blasting equipment.

What is Carbonic Cleaning?

At Charleston Environmental Services we have all your needs taken care of when it comes to carbonic cleansing. Our carbonic cleansing process uses dry ice blasting equipment, which takes dry ice pellets (frozen CO2) accelerated at very quick speeds using compressed air. These dry ice pellets are then thrown at the surface through custom designed hose nozzles. This process accomplishes mold remediation faster and more effective than other treatments. Dry ice blasting removes and kills mold without the use of toxic chemicals in one pass. Using this method, there will not be toxic dust from the remediation process.

Mold in the Low Country

Living in the Low Country we deal with flooding, humidity and constant fluctuating warm temperatures which creates an ideal climate for mold growth. Mold needs certain conditions which are spores, a food source, darkness, warmth, oxygen, moisture and time. Some of the main causes of mold growth are humidity, leaking pipes, roof leaks, condensation, poor ventilation, wet clothes, flooding, damp basement, and water at the foundation.

Toxic black mold is the common name used for Stachybotrys Chartarum which can grow in houses and is extremely dangerous to humans. This type of mold produces toxins called mycotoxins with symptoms that include:

  • Respiratory problems
  • Skin inflammation
  • Tiredness
  • Nausea
  • Immune System suppression
  • Mental impairment
  • Irritation of the mucous membranes
  • Hemorrhage

Black mold grows best in warm conditions and usually needs eight to twelve days. In most cases, when found growing in a home or commercial property it is in a place out of sight high is moisture. It is often found near a water leak inside walls, above ceilings and under floors.

The longer you are exposed to toxic black mold the more it will affect your health. If you find mold in your home or business or are experiencing symptoms call Charleston Environmental Services to perform a Mold Inspection. Charleston Environmental Services will perform multiple tests and will have the results back within 3-5 days and a full report and recommendations.
